Budding photographer.....

A few pictures that Ryan took for me, I love Nguni's! Think I'll have a few of these printed for his room..

we have these nguni sketches in the shop done by Jan Coetzee, framed or unframed from R545 each.

...London, the car guard at Corner Cafe. Ryan's idea of "movement"....

...this is going up above his bed, my mom took the picture with my brother lying in the sand while on their trip to New Zealand. Love it! Really miss him...

Took Ryan to a World Cup party this weekend! Loads of fun! How beautiful are these? All the aloes in the car park were flowering! Had to "borrow" one to photograph! Love them almost as much as proteas!

textures

I love neutral tones and textures combined. Took these pics at Singita while we were doing a gallery installation there last year. I was the most amazing experience!  WOW! I can't believe people actually live like that, I was gob smacked! Of course the Boyd Ferguson design wasn't too bad either!

One thing I know for sure ..... I love Africa, always will...... the most beautiful sunsets!!!

crosses and parked cars

Splurged and bought Ryan the Orla Kiely "parked cars" duvet in moss green.I love Orla, wish we could buy in SA. It's really stunning and something that he'll be able to use for quite a while and ..... I'll be paying for for quite a while! Made him this bathroom cabinet, works quite well in a boy's bathroom. Should be good just about anywhere in the house. Did it in green, red and white, selling at R600 each.

where I am, want to be and should be......

So the plywood obsession continues..... decided to do 3 clocks underneath each other, called it : where I am, want to be and should be. Now I can do what I have to do here on time, dream of what I could be doing in London and keep track of the time in Oz and NOT phone my brother when it's 2am in Sydney. We sell them individually in the shop for R399 each. Also made a small bedside version for R195 each.

Birds in flight.....

Used these hand carved jacaranda birds on the wall going up our staircase. I didn't want to do the usual .....think these work - I love the shadows they cast in the afternoon! Blessing carved them from a photo I took a while ago! Never thought it would work. They are 100% re-cycled. We have the five stages of flight in the shop, they sell for R250 each. Using them in the flying "v" formation makes a simple but effective statement.....

clever nev...

Since I can't sketch to save my life its difficult to explain my ideas to other people! Thank goodness for my husband, he seems to understand my vague descriptions and gets exactly what I have in mind! These are the counter tops that we made for our kitchen!

budget constraints = new favourite surface

I quite like the idea of free standing kitchen cupboards that aren't really "kitcheny"! This works as a divider between our kitchen and dining room as well.....

Birds & Bokkies

Aren't these lovely! They are designed by a local brother and sister team! I think the aloe stand is just amazing! The bird and bokkie hooks are currently in store and the coat racks should be available within the next 3 weeks! Can't wait!

The Jacs

Well, my first entry! I'm not much of a writer so you can probably expect more "visuals" than "text" !
My husband and I have a little shop in Durban, South Africa. We manufacture most of our stock ourselves using re-cycled items! The Jacaranda people are my absolute favourite! We have many Jacaranda trees in our neighbourhood but unfortunately they are well loved by ants so a lot have been cut down or fallen over! I have always loved the light colour of the wood and wanted to re-use it for something special... I love simple design and this worked perfectly!
